An Earth Friendly Mother’s Day

Spring & Summer inspiration is upon us and I’m very excited for the warm weather, flip flops & trips to the beach!  I’ve taken a bit of a break from writing the past few weeks as my husband and I gave birth to our first baby.  We named him Lennon.  We’ve been marveling at our creation for the past few weeks and it’s given me some time to consider new and exciting posts!  Of course, I’m now a mom, and with that comes thoughts about my mother, my upbringing, parenting, and the upcoming holiday to celebrate moms everywhere.

If you’re planning your wedding or just starting to think about it, I’m sure you are also taking a moment to think about your mom not only for Mother’s Day, but also for something special you can do for your Mom during your wedding celebration. Weddings are a special time for both parents and equally exciting as I’m sure they can be a bit sad to see their sons and daughters growing up & starting new chapters in their lives, so taking time away from your celebration to honor your mother and all her hard work is a must!  Below are some wonderful & inspiring ideas for you to show your love & appreciation any time of the year.  Of course, we love dad’s too, and look forward to honoring them with a post closer to Father’s Day!

There are a lot of ideas out there for special gifts & we’ve collected eco-friendly, reusable, or otherwise amazingly chic gifts for you below.  We’re very excited to offer 22% off through Zazzle today as part of our Mother’s Day Celebration.  Just use EARTHDAYDEAL at checkout.  Check out the custom gifts we ordered through Zazzle below to get some ideas!  Simply use this link!  How amazing is that?  Enjoy your mothers!

Cheers!

Mimosas, Banter & Hairstyles

Braids. Vintage. Up. Down. Side. Veil. Bun.  Well, you’ve got a few options for your wedding day hair.  When considering what’s right for your big day, consider weather first!  Also consider how much fussing you want to do with your hair be it during photos or while you’re bustin’ a move.  Many different styles will leave you fussing all night long, or being followed around by someone with pins while other styles won’t.  I knew I wanted a single side braid mixed in with a very loose up-do for my wedding.  I also wanted to incorporate a large, vintage head piece.  Eventhough I had a run through with my stylist, I was still in the chair for 3+ hours the morning of my wedding and ended up being very late getting in my dress.  Ultimately cutting time short for pre-wedding photo opps because of all the elements I wanted incorporated.

So, consider the timing of your ceremony as well as how many girls you’ll have at the hair dresser’s salon.  Be sure you are first in, first out and that your stylist is there for only you, if possible.  It’s all mimosas, banter about ex-boyfriend “what ifs,” and laughs until you’re running behind.  Also keep in mind, almost every wedding starts late, so no need to fret if you do end up a bit behind.  The guests are all waiting for you.  I’ve picked some of my top hairstyles for 2014 weddings below.  Remember this is your day to shine, so do something fun & dramatic!  Don’t be shy when you are the center of this magnificent day.  Have your hair say something.  xo
